As can be seen from Table 8 above, the exports of non traditional varieties like shirtings registered a plunge of 21.96% during the year 1999-2000 over the previous year while varieties like cambrics, dress materials, furnishings, poplin, sarees and voiles registered an increase in exports for the year 1999-2000 over the year 1998-99. Other traditional items like drills, twills, satin and canvas/ ducks registered a decrease in exports for the year under review. Overall, the exports of cotton powerloom, mill made and knitted fabrics increased by 2.41% in the year 1999-2000 over the year 1998-99.
