General body [A.G.M.] of the Council had also unanimously
passed resolutions adopting the annual report of the
Committee, the Council’s audited balance-sheet and
income & expenditure account for the financial year
that ended on the 31st of March, 2005, appointing the
auditors of the Council and noting the election of the

The
Committee during the year under review took up and made
several recommendations to the Govt. of India towards the
modernisation and upgradation of the technology of the
decentralised powerloom sector and the development and
promotion of the exports of the products thereof. Some of
the important suggestions made by the Council to the
Government are as follows ;

EXIM POLICY
|
|
|
The
Council submitted suggestions for modification / revision
in the Foreign Trade Policy / Handbook of Procedures. Some
of the suggestions which has been given are as follows :
|

1)
|
It is suggested that the relevant notifications need to be issued by Revenue Department for
remission of service tax under Para 2.48.1 of the Foreign Trade Policy.
|
|
|
2)
|
Under Para 1B.1 of Foreign Trade Policy, to include Powerloom textile sector for special focus
initiatives on the same lines as given in respect of handlooms, handicrafts etc.
|
|
|
3)
|
Under Para 3.3 of Foreign Trade Policy, to consider powerloom Textiles also for fixing a threshold
|
