limit of Rupees 250 crores for getting identified as town of export excellence.

In the note 1 under Para 3.5.2 of the Foreign Trade Policy, wherever small scale industry is mentioned, it should be indicated as units in the small scale sector as in the case of tiny sector, cottage sector etc.
 

II)  BUDGET PROPOSAL
 

The Council had submitted its suggestions for incorporation in the budget proposal for the financial year 2005-06. The major suggestions included are :
 

1) All State Level Duties need to be neutralized for exporters.
 
2)

All present duty drawback rates needs to be raised, to make exports more Competitive.
 

3)

Small and medium size powerloom weavers facing sales and marketing problems, as they do not have organised set up.
 

4)

The service tax of 10.2% on freight charges and commission paid to foreign agents need to be withdrawn.
 

III)

COMMUNICATIONS WERE ADDRESSED TO THE MINISTRY OF TEXTILES / MINISTRY OF COMMERCE ON THE FOLLOWING MATTERS :

1)

Nomination of Chairman, PDEXCIL as a representative of the PDEXCIL on the Board of Textiles Committee to maintain close contact with the Textiles Committee for the overall development of the powerloom textile industry.
 

2)

Communication with regard to Abolition of Textiles Committee Cess on textiles as well as on the textile machinery.
 

3)

Communication sent to MOT regarding difficulties faced by the exporters.
 

4)

Communication sent to MOT regarding submission of points for inclusion in the Agenda for the meeting of the High Level Committee for Redressal of Grievances of Exporters.
 

5)

Communication regarding Economic Cooperation Initiatives for increased trade between India and Sri Lanka.
 

6)

Communication with regard to Eighty Third Report of the Department related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affair on personnel policies of CSS.
 

7)

Communication regarding Synthetic & Art Silk Powerloom Weavers in crisis due to Anti Dumping Duty on the import of raw materials.
 

8) Review of the USA’s Trade Policies by WTO.
